Astronomers have produced a new colour map of Pluto, the most distant planet in our Solar System, using images from the Hubble Space Telescope.
The detailed map shows areas likely to be methane frost and a bright spot perhaps made of frozen carbon monoxide.

The largest known asteroid could contain more fresh water than Earth and looks like our planet in other ways, according to a new study that further blurs the line between planets and large space rocks.
Astronomers took 267 images of asteroid [url=http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/blo...

The object designated 2003 VB12 was discovered with the Palomar 1.2-m Schmidt telescope on November 14, 2003 and has also been found on sky photographs taken in 2001 and 2002. Orbit computations show that the object's distance from the Sun varies between 76 and about 900 Astronomical Units. Its cur...

Asteroid 136472 (2005 FY9) 2003 EL61 and 2003UB313 orbits 52 AU from the Sun. 2005 FY9 is estimated to have an absolute magnitude of -0.4; with a Pluto-like albedo of 0.6 this would give it a diameter that is slightly less than the diameter of Pluto, about 1990km. But if it's darker (Sedna is ~ 0.1) then i...
