Title: The detonating meteor of December 8, 1930

On December 8, 1930, at S :00 P.M., 90th meridian time, one of the most widely observed meteors in recent years was seen. It fell soon after sundown and although the sky was clear in the surrounding area no stars were yet visible. It ranks therefore as a daylight meteor. When the meteor fell, the Midwest Meteor Association did not have trained workers cooperating in central and southern Illinois. A field trip by a trained man could not well be arranged, and so the older method of requesting letters from observers wa resorted to.
