Kiwi scientists keep watch on history-making rocket

Two very long weeks of work will tonight come rocketing back down to Earth for a group of AUT professors.
AUT University's radio astronomy observatory north of Auckland has been contracted to track the re-entry into Earth's atmosphere of the first private space flight to the International Space Station (ISS).

Dragon Unberthed from Station

Crew members of Expedition 31 aboard the International Space Station unberthed the SpaceX Dragon capsule from the orbiting complexs Harmony node at 8:07 UT this morning. The Dragon spent 5 days, 16 hours and 5 minutes berthed to the station. Release of the capsule by the stations robotic arm is planned for 9:35 UT., which will begin the Dragons return to Earth following its historic accomplishments as the first mission by a commercial company to resupply the Station.

SpaceX Dragon ship aims for Earth

The American SpaceX company's Dragon cargo capsule returns to Earth on Thursday having spent a week attached to the International Space Station.
The unmanned vehicle will fall through the atmosphere to make a splashdown in the Pacific off the California coast.

NASA TV Coverage for SpaceX Dragon Reentry and Splashdown

NASA Television will provide extensive coverage of the departure of the SpaceX Dragon capsule from the International Space Station before its reentry and splashdown on May 31.
On Thursday, May 31, NASA TV will begin live coverage of the departure of Dragon at 7:30 UT. Coverage will continue through the release of Dragon from the station, currently scheduled for 10:10 UT and will resume at 14:15 UT with deorbit and splashdown coverage. The capsule is currently scheduled to splashdown in the Pacific Ocean at 15:44 UT hundreds of miles off the west coast of California likely out of range of live television.

Station grabs SpaceX Dragon ship

The California SpaceX company has seen its unmanned Dragon cargo ship attach successfully to the International Space Station (ISS).
Astronauts onboard the platform used its robotic arm to grasp the vehicle and attach it to a berthing port.
Dragon is the first commercial vessel to visit the space station.
