About 15 minutes after ET separation, Mission Specialist Michael Fossom saw about 12 metres away, what appeared to be a large “4 -5ft long” bit of material, with what "appeared to be straps" attached, float away from the orbiter - .

The payload bay doors were closed at the time.

The Crew is reporting some orbital debris between the orbiter and the tank after separation.
initial reports suggest it as ice.
All systems nominal.

MC1 course correction burn will not be required.

Currently the shuttle is over Australia, the ISS is over Europe; they will sync up on Thursday morning.

At T+plus 45 minutes, 30 seconds, the shuttle achieved an orbit of 143 by 97 statute miles.
