Space Station Crew Hosts News Conference To Celebrate 50th Anniversary Of Human Spaceflight And 30th Of Space Shuttle
 
The International Space Station partner agencies will commemorate the golden anniversary of human spaceflight and 30 years of space shuttle flights on Tuesday, April 12, with a news conference featuring the six crew members in orbit 220 miles above Earth.
The 30-minute news conference will begin at 11:45 a.m. EDT and will air live on NASA Television and the agency's website.

Soyuz Docks to International Space Station



The Soyuz TMA-21 capsule carrying three Expedition 27 crew members docked to the ISS at 7:09 p.m. Eastern on Wed., Apr. 6. Docking is followed by a news conference from Mission Control in Korolev, Russia.

Mission Control and Crew Monitor Orbital Debris

The Expedition 27 crew aboard the International Space Station and the team in Mission Control Houston are monitoring a piece of orbital debris that might pass close to the station later today. There isn't enough time to steer the station out of the way, as was done last Friday for a different piece of debris, so if the probability of collision continues to remain in the "red" category, the crew will be asked to shelter inside the Soyuz TMA-20 that brought them up to the station in December. That spacecraft is currently docked with the Rassvet module.

Orbiting 'Junk' Threatens Space Station, Astronauts

A small piece of space junk drifted dangerously close to the International Space Station on Tuesday, prompting NASA to order the three astronauts to seek shelter in their attached capsule.
Mission Control gave the order after determining there was not enough time to steer the orbiting outpost away from the space junk.

Europe agrees 2020 space station

Europe has formally agreed to the extension of operations at the International Space Station until 2020.
Member states have also put in place the financing to cover their commitments at the platform for the next two years.

The space shuttle Discovery has undocked from the International Space Station (ISS) for its final journey back to Earth.
Nasa said Discovery had made important deliveries on its final mission providing supplies for the crew on board the ISS.

Space station gets new store room

The last of Europe's permanent modules has been attached to the International Space Station (ISS).
Astronauts used the platform's robotic arm on Tuesday to lift the Leonardo cylinder out of the Discovery shuttle's payload bay and berth it to the underside of the 350km-high lab.

Astronauts prepare for 1st of 2 spacewalks

The astronauts aboard the orbiting shuttle-station complex geared up Sunday for the first spacewalk of their mission, amid some good news from Mission Control.
Flight controllers told Discovery's six astronauts that the shuttle made it through its final liftoff relatively unscathed, and that no further inspections would be needed before undocking next weekend.
