We drove 50km to witness this spectacular event
The solitary tower on a nondescript road by the side of the Pulicat Lake overlooking the Chandrayaan-1 launchpad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) was deserted 4.30am.

Three of these instruments were provided by Europe (UK, Germany, Sweden) through ESA.

After a 52 hour count down, PSLV-C11 lifted off from the Second Launch Pad at SDSC SHAR at 06:22 Hrs Indian Standard Time (IST) with the ignition of the core first stage. The important flight events included the separation of the first stage, ignition of the second stage, separation of the payload fairing at about 116 km altitude after the vehicle had cleared the dense atmosphere, second stage separation, third stage ignition, third stage separation, fourth stage ignition and fourth stage cut-off.

Indias first unmanned flight to the moon blasted off from Sriharikota, off the Andhra Pradesh coast, early morning on Wednesday.
The launch was perfect and the space vehicle is going in the right direction.
A 44-metre-tall and 316-tonne rocket called the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV C11) carried the 1,380-kg lunar orbiter Chandrayaan 1 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota at around 0620 hrs IST.
