Comet P/2009 S1 (Gibbs) was discovered by  A. Gibbs (Catalina Sky Survey) on the 20th September, 2009.
The preliminary orbital elements of the comet indicate a perihelion passage on the 24th July, 2009, at a distance of approximately 2.36 AU from the Sun, and a 6.95 year orbital period.
