Comet C/2009 K4 (Gibbs) was discovered by Alex R. Gibbs (Catalina Sky Survey) on the 27th May, 2009. The preliminary orbital elements of the comet indicate a perihelion passage on the 18th June, 2009, at a distance of approximately 1.5 AU from the Sun.
