The IID irons often contain abundant inclusions of nickel iron phosphate (schreibersite), and contain high amounts of gallium and germanium, and also trace elements of iridium, tungsten or gold. This would indicate that they formed within the core of a large asteroid. Cut and polished slices often show Widmanstatten Patterns.
