Comet P/2002 LZ11 (LINEAR) was recovered by Paul Camilleri, Ernesto Guido, Giovanni Sostero, and Enrico Prosperion (RAS Observatory) on the 17th April, 2009. The comet was first discovered by the LINEAR monitoring telescope on 5th June, 2002, and catalogued under the designation of an asteroid, 2002 LZ11. Eric Christensen (University of Arizona) discovered that the asteroid had a cometary appearance on the 29th October, 2003, and it was re-catalogued as comet P/2002 LZ11 (LINEAR).
The orbital elements of the comet indicate a perihelion passage on the 5th March, 2010 at a distance of 2.36 AU from the Sun, and a 6.99 year orbital period.
