The longest solar eclipse of the century will occur over Asia next week. Local residents can watch it on the big screen at the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Centre in Concord Tuesday.
The broadcast will stream live from Shanghai, China. The estimated start time is at 7:26 p.m., and should last approximately 6 minutes and 39 seconds.

Worldwide audience will be able to watch the longest solar eclipse in China in this century through TV, Internet and mobile phones on July 22, said the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS) National Astronomical Observatories (NAOC) here Friday.
Four stations for live broadcasting will be set up in Chongqing, Wuhan, Hangzhou and Shanghai cities, where the total eclipse can be observed, said Hao Jinxin, NAOC deputy director.
Six stations will be set up in Beijing, Kunming, Urumqi, Taipei and Hong Kong where partial eclipse can be seen, he said.

Isfahan's Kowsar observatory is set to provide live online coverage of the longest total solar eclipse of the 21st century.
According to the IT department of Isfahan's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organisation, those interested in watching the eclipse can register at universealive.com or isfahancht.ir.

A guidebook for observing the July 22 solar eclipse written by three Chinese teenagers has been commended by Jay Pasachoff, head of the Solar Eclipse Working Group of the International Astronomical Union (IAU).

"They provided detailed information for astronomical researchers and lovers all over the world" - Jay Pasachoff, who visited the students' school in Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang Province, Tuesday.
