A Russian military Cosmos-3M rocket was launched from launch pad No. 1 of the launch complex No. 132 of the Plesetsk space centre at 13:05 UTC, (17:05 Moscow time).
Cosmos-2429 was confirmed to have successfully reached orbit 1 hour 3 minutes later. The Space Forces command centre the took control over the satellite at 14:39 UTC The Titov Space Test and Control Centre will track the orbital flight.
The satellite is to join the military constellation.

"Robust communication has been established and is being maintained with the spacecraft that has been put into orbit in the Defence Ministry's interests. The Cosmos-2429 satellite's onboard systems are functioning well" - Lt. Col. Alexei Zolotukhin, a spokesman for the Russian Space Forces.

Cosmos-2429, NORAD catalogue number 32052, has been deployed in an orbit with inclination of 82.96 degrees, orbital period of about 105 minutes, apogee of 970 km, and perigee of about 1010 km.
The orbit indicates that the satellite is a Parus system navigation satellite.

Cosmos-2414 was the previous launch of a similar satellite, and took place in January 2005.
