JAXA has announced that  they  are to proceed with the launch of the Lunar Orbit Explorer "KAGUYA" (SELENE) by H-IIA Launch  Vehicle No. 13 (H-IIA F13) at  10:31:01 a.m. , September 14 , 2007, ( JST) .
They are still closely monitoring the weather and other conditions.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency have announced that they have decided to postpone the launch of the Lunar Orbit Explorer "KAGUYA" (SELENE) by the H-IIA Launch Vehicle No. 13 (H-IIA F13) due to predicted adverse weather conditions during the scheduled countdown period.

The new launch date will be September 14 (Fri,) 2007 (Japan Standard Time, JST.) The launch time is scheduled for 10:31:01 a.m. (JST.)
They will re-examine the weather conditions tomorrow for the launch on the 14th.
The launch was previously scheduled for September 13 (Thu,) 2007 (JST.)

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency have announced that the launch of the Lunar Orbit Explorer "KAGUYA" (SELENE) aboard the  H-IIA Launch Vehicle No. 13 (H-IIA F13)  has been  rescheduled.

New scheduled launch date:     September 13 (Thursday), 2007 (Japan Standard Time, JST)
Launch time     :     10:35:47 a.m. (JST)
Launch windows     :     September 14 (Fri) through September 21 (Fri) 2007 (JST)
(Launch time will be set for each day.)

The rescheduling was  due to the need to replace parts in the two onboard baby satellites of the "KAGUYA". The replacements have now been successfully  installed.

Japan's space agency said the mid-August launch of its lunar orbiter will be postponed due to a technical glitch, delivering another setback to the much-delayed probe.
The Selenological and Engineering Explorer or SELENE probe was to have been launched aboard one of the space program's mainstay H-2A rockets on Aug. 17, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, or JAXA, said in a statement issued Friday.
However, during an inspection it was discovered that some components were improperly installed on the two smaller satellites that accompany the main orbiter.

JAXA is to provide a live report of the launch of the selenological & engineering explorer "KAGUYA" (SELENE)/H-IIA F13 from a studio at Tanegashima with JAXA employees' comments.

*The broadcast time schedule is subject to change due to the operation status, weather conditions and other factors on the launch day.

SELENE and WINDS satellites

The Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. and space aeronautics research and development H-IIA rocket 13 due to launch the SELENE and WINDS satellites on 2007 August 16th, 30:48 GMT, has been postponed.

JAXA will decide on a new launch day as soon as possible.

It was discovered during testing that the WINDS (super high-speed Internet) satellite that the polarity of a condenser was installed the wrong way.
Because of this, JAXA has decided to replace the part.

Kaguya mission

Japan is advancing toward the moon at long last. The lunar explorer Kaguya (formerly known as SELENE) loaded onboard the thirteenth H-IIA rocket will leave Earth from Tanegashima Space Centre in August. The Moon, a long time friend of mankind, has been a precious heavenly body from ancient time, particularly for us Japanese.

Japan's first lunar orbiter Kaguya, scheduled to be launched Aug. 16 aboard an H-2A rocket, is on display at the Tanegashima Space Centre in Kagoshima Prefecture on June 18.
According to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, the 3-ton, 5.5-meter-tall unmanned spacecraft will be used to collect scientific data to help scientists better understand about the origin of the moon and its transformational history. Among the scientific data to be observed during the orbiter's one-year mission include the moon's gravity, distribution of its magnetic field and the structure of the moon surface.

Mitsubishi Heavy Idustries, Ltd. and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has announced that the launch of the H-IIA Launch Vehicle No. 13 (H-IIA F13) with the "KAGUYA" (Selonological and Engineering Explorer, SELENE) onboard was approved by the Space Activities Commission (SAC) as follows.

Scheduled date of launch : August 16 (Thursday), 2007 (Japan Standard Time, JST)
Launch time : 9:30:48 a.m. (JST)
Launch windows : August 17 (Fri) through 23 (Thu), 2007 (JST), and
September 13 (Thu) through 21 (Fri), 2007 (JST)
(Launch time will be set for each day.)
Launch Site : Yoshinobu Launch Complex at the Tanegashima Space Center
