A magnitude 13.2 supernova 2006mq, was discovered on the 22nd October, 2006, by the Lick Observatory Supernova Search in the galaxy ESO 494-G26 in the constellation Puppis.
The supernova is located 16".6 east and 124".3 south of the galaxy centre.

Position(2000): R.A. = 08h06m12s.39, Dec. = -27°33'45".4

As yet the type is unknown
