When it comes to anonymous Web access, Tor is not the only fish in the sea. If you are looking for a lightweight utility that allows you to navigate the Web anonymously, JAP is more user-friendly.
Similar to Tor, JAP sends a user's Web page request through multiple intermediary servers called mixes.

Today we launched openDesktop.org. openDesktop.org is the new head of our website network. It brings the contents and users of our websites together. Users and contributors of a free desktop can exchange applications and artwork, help each other, discuss new ideas and get to know other people. It shouldn't be important which desktop environment you prefer, which linux distribution you use or if you are a developer, an artist or a different contributor. It's only important that you help to push the free desktop.

E17 as a Desktop dont try this at home!
E17 is a still being developed version of a graphical environment called Enlightenment. E17 has been developed for a long time already. Updates have been appearing often, but they used to become obsolete in a few weeks after releases. Has anything changed suddenly? No, nothing really. Stable release of the environment is not planned anytime soon, but this of course isnt a problem for us to have a glance at what Enlightenment has to offer at the moment.

Using VirtualBox to run Ubuntu and any other operating system
The easy way to run operating systems without messing up your system

GNU/Linux can be scary to a new user. After all, what if you mess up? What if you end up corrupting your hard drive so badly that you need to format it to get rid of GNU/Linux? The solution is to use virtualisation technology. A virtual machine creates a virtual hard drive as well as a virtual computer, so you can install and run it from within another operating system. If you want to get rid of the virtualised (also known as the guest) operating system, just delete the virtual hard disk from the real (host) computers hard drive.

Linux users can, at times, be the worst kind of ingrates, whining and complaining about what they perceive as missing features in a free operating system.
My advice to all such whingers: spend 10 days using the latest version of Windows and you'll realise that you are living in a world of relative bliss.
I asked my editor, Stan Beer, if he had a Vista pack for a cursory look, out of sheer curiosity. You hear so much about Vista on the net but there's a good deal of truth yet in the old saying, "seeing is believing."

"Linux was selected for a NASA experiment aimed at proving the feasibility of COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) hardware and software for scientific space missions. A key requirement was for application development and runtime environments familiar to scientists, to facilitate porting applications from the lab to the spacecraft.

"NASA's 'Dependable Multiprocessor' (DM) experiment is among four scientific payloads scheduled for launch in November of 2009, in the 'New Millennium Program Space Technology 8 (ST8) mission. Honeywell Aerospace was chosen to be the lead contractor for the DM experiment, while Orbital Sciences was selected to build ST8's 'Spacecraft bus...'"
