The Tungurahua volcano erupts in Ecuador

Ash from the Tunguarahua volcano, whose name means Throat of Fire in the local Quechua language, was blown five miles, 28,000 ft, into the sky and drifted west.
It was the latest eruption from the volcano after a period of calm

Ecuador's Tungurahua volcano spews ash and lava

The Tungurahua volcano in Ecuador has been spewing lava and ash, covering villages hundreds of kilometres away with a white dusting.
The ash travelled as far as Loja province, on the border with Peru.

Explosions at Ecuador's Tungurahua volcano

People living on the slopes of the Tungurahua volcano in Ecuador are being evacuated as a plume of gas and ash rises from its crater.
Tungurahua volcano began to erupt again last week, prompting the government to issue an orange alert, the second highest.

Tungurahua Volcano: explosions, ash fall and pyroclastic flow possible

Since last night, March 03, four moderate to large sized explosions have been reported. The explosion at 07:31 (local time) today, produced a column of ash-laden emissions to about 4 km in height and a direction of movement to the west-north west. The explosion at 09:11 (local time) today, was a blast that caused windows and ground shaking in some areas.

Four Ecuadorean villages are being evacuated after a volcano close to the country's capital began spewing smouldering rock and billowing columns of ash.
The government is urging 700 people living beside the Tungurahua volcano near Quito to leave the area as soon as possible.
