Geologists lower alert level on Alaska volcano

The Alaska Volcano Observatory has lowered the alert level on an Aleutians Island volcano.
The observatory says Bogoslof Volcano erupted five times Monday night.
The bursts lasted from 10 to 30 minutes and generated volcanic clouds that rose as high as 25,000 feet.
The clouds dissipated within 30 minutes each time.

Alaska Bogoslof Volcano Erupts Again; Aviation Alert Raised to Red

The Alaska Volcano Observatory says Bogoslof (BOH-gohs-lawf) Volcano in the Aleutian Islands erupted at 2:16 p.m. Sunday and sent a cloud of ash at least 35,000 feet (10,668 meters) high. The eruption lasted 55 minutes.

 'Explosive events' rock Pacific Ocean

An active island volcano situated in the Pacific Ocean under one of the world's busiest flight paths has barely stopped erupting since Christmas and is nearing its 40th explosion in months.
Bogoslof volcano, nestled in the Aleutian Islands about 98km northwest of Dutch Harbor, Alaska, US, has been in the midst of an "active eruption sequence" since mid-December 2016.

Alaskan volcano erupts for second day

For the second straight day, the Alaska Volcano Observatory issued its highest alert level for aviation when a volcano erupted with a towering ash cloud in the Aleutian Islands.
Observatory volcanologist Robert McGimsey says Wednesday afternoon's eruption of the Bogoslof volcano was "almost a carbon copy" of an eruption 24 hours earlier.
