Grace Lee Whitney, 85, the futuristic-clipboard-bearing Yeoman Janice Rand on the original series of "Star Trek," died this weekend in the town of Coarsegold, California, her family confirmed. No cause of death was reported.

Grace Lee Whitney (born Mary Ann Chase; April 1, 1930 - May 1, 2015) was an American actress and entertainer. She was known for her role as Janice Rand on the original Star Trek television series and subsequent Star Trek films.
