The preparatory work for this year's Asian Aerospace is going on at Singapore's Changi Exhibition Centre with an Airbus A380 double-decker jet, the world's biggest commercial airliner, arriving there at 6:45 a.m. (local time) on Saturday (2245 GMT Friday).
According to Channel NewsAsia report, more than 900 exhibitors from 43 countries will showcase their latest products at the four-day trade show, which will open on February 21. Some 44 civil, military and business aircraft will be displayed in a static area outside the exhibition hall during the show, which, together with the daily aerial displays, are due to be the focus in the two public days after the trade show.
An Apache helicopter will be shown to the public for the first time, while F-16 fighters, two Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) and the Airbus A380 are to be seen during the flying displays. It is expected that this year's Asian Aerospace will be at least 20 percent bigger than the last one held in 2004, which generated about 3.5 billion U.S. dollars in business.
Asian Aerospace, the world's third largest and Asia's biggest air show, has been held in Singapore every two years for 12 years running. This will be the last show held there; After this the venue will be moved to Hong Kong next year.
