NGC 1818 (also ESO 85-SC40 and GC 1031) is a magnitude +9.7 young open star cluster in the Large Magellanic Cloud located 164000 light-years away in the constellation Dorado.
The age of the cluster is estimated to be about 25 million years old.

The cluster was discovered by Scottish astronomer James Dunlop using a homemade 9-foot 22.86 cm (9 inch) f/12 speculum Newtonian reflector at Paramatta, New South Wales, Australia, on the 3rd August 1826.

Right Ascension 05h 04m 13.8s, Declination -66° 26' 02"

It is expected it will become a globular cluster, but is only about 25 million years old while almost all known globular clusters formed billions of years ago.
