NGC 4009 is a magnitude +13.4 star located in the constellation Leo.
The star was discovered by Danish-Irish astronomer John Louis Emil Dreyer, assistant to Lawrence Parsons, 4th Earl of Rosse, using a 182.88 cm (72 inch) speculum reflector at Birr Castle on the 26th April 1878.
