NGC 2835 (also IRAS 09156-2208, MCG -4-22-8, UGCA 157 and PGC 26259) is a magnitude +10.5 face-on barred spiral galaxy located 41 million light-years away in the constellation Hydra.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer Wilhelm Tempel using a 27.94 cm (11 inch) f/19 refractor at the Arcetri Observatory on the 13th April 1884. The galaxy was independently discovered by American astronomer Edward Emerson Barnard using a 15.24 cm (6 inch) refractor at the Vanderbilt Observatory, Nashville sometime around 1885.
