NGC 4400 (also MCG 6-27-53) is a magnitude +12.4 HII emission region in the spiral galaxy NGC 4395 located 15 million light-years away in the constellation Canes Venatici.
The emission region was discovered by Anglo-Irish astronomer George Johnstone Stoney using a 182.88 cm (72 inch) speculum reflector at Birr Castle on the 13th April 1850.
