NGC 2888 (also ESO 434-2, MCG -5-23-1 and PGC 26768) is a magnitude +12.6 elliptical galaxy located 112 million light-years away in the constellation Pyxis.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at the Cape of Good Hope on the 30th March 1835.
