NGC 2288 (also MCG 6-15-11 and PGC 19714) is a magnitude +14.4 elliptical galaxy located 250 million light-years away in the constellation Gemini.
The galaxy was discovered by George Johnstone Stoney, assistant astronomer to Irish astronomer William Parsons, using a 182.88 cm (72 inch) f/8.8 speculum reflector at Birr Castle on the 22nd February 1849.
