It does sound like that it is a meteorite, but best to take it to your local university to be tested and confirmed. Without testing it is just an unusual rock and basically worthless. Testing will show what what type of meteorite it is, and from that we can workout the price per gram.
I have a meteor found in so. cal. in the early 70ies. It is magnetic. and pot marked. It weighs aprox. 1.5 lbs. 3.5" long 2.5' w. and is 2.75 h. It was found in the desert on a sand dune Dad said it just didn't belong there. so he put it in the shed and just found it again. If anybody can help me get a value on this meteor I would appreciate it. thanks Dave e-mail at colocuz@yahoo.com
