NGC 955 (also PGC 9549, UGC 1986, MCG 0-7-27A, GWT 388.29 or IRAS02279-0119) is a magnitude +12.1 edge-on spiral galaxy located 68 million light years away in the constellation Cetus.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) reflecting telescope at Datchet, Berkshire, on the 6th January 1785.
