Russian Proton-M Lifts Off With US Telecoms Satellite

A Russian Proton-M rocket carrying a US telecoms satellite lifted off on Friday from the Baikonur space center in Kazakhstan, said a spokesman for the Russian space agency Roscosmos.

An ILS Proton rocket is scheduled to launch the Sirius FM6 satellite from the Baikonur Cosmodrome at 8:13 UT, 20th October, 2013.

SIRIUS FM-6 is a new, high-power satellite designed to operate in a Geostationary orbit (GEO). This satellite will be the seventh SSL-built spacecraft in the SIRIUS XM Radio fleet and will provide nearly double the power of the satellites in SIRIUS XMs existing, in-orbit constellation, continuing to improve service for SIRIUS subscribers.
