NGC 7404 (also IC 5260, ESO 346-10, MCG-7-47-1 and PGC 69964) is a magnitude +12.8 elliptical galaxy located 88 million light-years away in the constellation Grus.

NGC 7404 was discovered by John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflecting telescope at Feldhausen, Claremont, Cape Town on the 4th October 1836.
The galaxy was rediscovered by Lewis Swift on the 19th July 1897 and catalogued as IC 5260.

Right Ascension 22h 54m 18.6s, Declination -39° 18' 53"
