Title: The Amber, Oklahoma, Aerolite (CN=0979,351) Authors: Leonard, F. C.
Early in 1956, I learned from Mr. Van Long of Chickasha, Grady County, Oklahoma, that he had recovered a stony meteorite on October 1, 1955, at a point on his property about three miles east and four miles north of Chickasha and three miles south of Amber. Under date of February 8, 1956, Mr. Long wrote: "I actually found the meteorite first in 1934, while ploughing a field, but I left it there, thinking that it was an ordinary rock. Soon after throwing it back into the ground and ploughing it under, i decided from its weight that it might be a meteorite, but i could never find it again until October 1, 1956 - again while ploughing, when instantly recognised it to be the same rock as i had found over 21 years ago".
