Green cars ready to race in 2nd Atacama solar challenge

Eighteen solar-powered cars from Chile, Argentina, Venezuela and India will race across 1,300 kilometres of Chile's uber-dry Atacama desert for this year's "Atacama Solar Challenge." 
The November 15-19 race is the latest instalment of Latin America's first big solar car competition, launched last year to encourage the development of low-cost environmentally-friendly vehicles.

From November 15th to 19th will take place the second edition of the race of solar-powered vehicles known as "Atacama Solar Challenge". It will cross the Atacama Desert, the driest in the world, receiving the highest solar radiation on the Earth's surface that reaches more than 1.100 W/m² and exceeds 3.600 meters above sea level.
It is a unique competition in Latin America, the first of its kind, where teams from across the region gather in northern Chile to run 1000 Km. under the relentless sun of a wasteland with innovative solar vehicles for four days of grueling competition
