Free program makes computer graphics more realistic

Computer-generated images can be a little more realistic -- and a lot cheaper to make -- with a rendering program created by a Cornell graduate student. Wenzel Jakob has just released a major new version of Mitsuba, a free, open-source rendering program that is already in use by computer graphics researchers around the world. "Open source" means that the code is freely available for anyone to work on.
