Asteroid Oljato Loses Its Magnetism

For the last three decades, the asteroid 2201 Oljato has caused magnetic disturbances whenever it passed by Venus, but new observations show its magnetic attraction has disappeared.
This near-Earth asteroid circles the sun every 3.2 years. When NASAs Pioneer Venus Orbiter was in place, it detected magnetic peaks or Interplanetary Field Enhancements (IFEs) during three passes Oljato made between Venus and the sun.
