Dig to reveal secrets of Dingwall 'Thing'

The first ever excavation of a Viking assembly site on the Scottish mainland is being carried out in Dingwall this week to unearth the towns historical origins. The archaeologists digging in a trench at the Cromartie Memorial Car Park are hoping to find artefacts and carbon deposits dating back at least 1,000 years to prove the mound there was once a Thing - a law court or assembly where Vikings gathered.
