Staff members at the landing zone for the Shenzhou-9 in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region have been conducting various drills in order to successfully detect and capture the soon to return manned spacecraft.
Operators of the electronically scanned radar team are practicing repeatedly in order to ensure an accurate and prompt detection.

Chinese Spacecraft Docks Manually For The First Time

The Shenzhou 9 capsule completed the manoeuvre with the Tiangong 1 module shortly before 05:00 GMT. The docking was shown live on national television. It follows a docking last week that was carried out by remote control from a ground base in China.

China Shenzhou-9 spacecraft to try first manual docking

China is to make its first ever attempt at manually docking a spacecraft with another space module.
Astronauts on the Shenzhou-9 spacecraft will try to dock with the Tiangong-1 lab module without relying on an automated system.
Jing Haipeng, Liu Wang and China's first female astronaut, Liu Yang, will attempt the manoeuvre, which must be carried out very delicately.
Authorities in China said the docking would take place at around 04:00 GMT.

Zhu Jin denies UFO hitting Shenzhou 9

Beijing Planetarium curator Zhu Jin has denied that the two flying objects swooping against Shenzhou 9 four minutes after its launch on June 16 were UFOs.
According to Zhu, also the vice executive director of Beijing's UFO Research Society, the two glistening objects caught onscreen during the live broadcast of China's first manned space docking mission last Saturday, were probably birds, planes or other flying modules.
