Giant Meteor Caught on Video by Tel Aviv University ILAN Team
On the night of December 7th 2011, during a sprites and TLEs hunting observation, ILAN Team observer Lior Rubanenko caught this giant bolide fireball meteor. This is a rather exceptional event in its brightness, duration, features of fragmentation and slowness. Considering the brightness and slowness of the meteor, one may speculate it could have even dropped meteorites. The observation was made using a WATEC-902h camera from the rooftop of Kaplun building in Tel Aviv University.
