 The Fraudulent Business of Earthquake and Eruption Prediction

The real danger here isn't the predictions, but rather the idea that some people will believe this type of "black magic" rather than scientific information. Instead of being prepared for an earthquake or eruption, they could just wait for the so-called predictors to say when an geologic event might happen. These "earth forecasters" spread easy fear of earthquakes or volcanoes that can cause panic. They are the faith healers of the geologic community and should be seen as such.

No sizable earthquakes worth mentioning occurred during any of his predicted times and areas.

Dangerous amount of kinetic frictional heating in Northern California. Expecting strong earthquake today in North Central or NE California.

A minor 3.7 earthquake struck at 3:55 p.m. Saturday (local time) about 80 miles north of San Francisco.
But so far nothing to warrant (if it were possible to predict) a warning.

(It should be noted that magnitude 3.0-3.9 minor earthquakes are felt by many people, but cause no damage)
