John Sunderland from the Latrobe Valley Astronomical Club says the best stuff to look at in the sky at the moment is near the centre of the galaxy. This is the richest area of the sky in terms of objects in our galaxy - stars, nebulae and star clusters.

The waning crescent moon is between Mars and Venus on the 28th June, 2011.

Tuesday morning, early risers will find a thin waning crescent moon sitting less than 3 degrees above and to the right of Mars one hour before sunrise. The celestial duo will sit within 15 degrees of the east-northeastern horizon. By Wednesday morning, the thin crescent will have slid by Mars and sit about 10 degrees to the upper right of Venus.
