United Launch Alliance Launches 350th Delta in Program's 50-Year History

For the 350th time in its illustrious 50-year program history, a Delta rocket launched from U.S. soil, adding another chapter to one of the most successful rocket launch programs in American history. The 350th mission was a United Launch Alliance Delta II rocket launching the fourth Italian-built Constellation of Small Satellites for Mediterranean Basin Observation (COSMO-SkyMed 4) satellite from Space Launch Complex-2 at 7:20 p.m. PDT today. ULA successfully launched the first three COSMO-SkyMed satellites on Delta II vehicles June 7, 2007, Dec. 8, 2007, and Oct. 24, 2008.

After nearly overstaying its welcome, a Delta rocket finally departed from Vandenberg Air Force Base Friday night, launching the booster into the history books with 350 missions in the past half century.
The United Launch Alliance Delta 2 rocket lifted off from Space Launch Complex-2 at 7:20 p.m., carrying Italys fourth COSMO-Skymed earth-observation satellite.

Delta launch suffers yet another delay

A Delta 2 rocket's scheduled liftoff tonight from Vandenberg Air Force Base has been delayed another 24 hours, officials said Wednesday.
Blastoff now will shoot for 7:20 p.m. Friday from Space Launch Complex-2 at Vandenberg.

For the third day in a row crews are poised at Vandenberg Air Force Base to launch a Delta 2 rocket and its Italian satellite tonight.
Liftoff of the 12-story-tall Delta rocket is targeting 7:20 p.m. today from Space Launch Complex-2. Good weather promises to be suitable for both launch and viewing.

A last-minute problem led to another liftoff delay Monday night for the Delta 2 rocket and its Italian satellite at Vandenberg Air Force Base.
The team will again try to launch the rocket from Space Launch Complex-2 at 7:20 p.m. today, officials said after mission managers scrubbed Mondays countdown.

The launch of Delta II COSMO-SkyMed 4 (Constellation of Small Satellites for Mediterranean basin Observation) mission has been rescheduled for Monday, Nov. 1 with a launch time of 7:20 p.m. PDT. During the terminal launch countdown Sunday, an engine section heater did not operate properly. The heater is designed to keep the Delta II's engine components warm during the fuelling of the rocket prior to flight.
