SFU is planning to build a $4 million observatory atop Burnaby Mountain that will rival Vancouver's H.R. MacMillan Planetarium when it comes to scientific community outreach. The 458-square-metre observatory will located be next to the Diamond Alumni Centre on the campus's north side. It will feature a motorised eight-metre diameter dome and a 0.7-metre diameter reflector telescope, capable of tracking distant galaxies billions of years old. Read more
