Those probably were not UFOs that hovered over China recently, a Massachusetts Institute of Technology analyst said.
The images of the UFOs have caused quite a stir in China and on blogs around the world.
But many of the images appear to be faked with the software program Photoshop and the ones that were not faked seem to depict the launch of a Chinese ballistic missile, said Geoffrey Forden, an MIT weapons analyst.

Ed ~ I had assumed that the object seen over Hangzhou was a re-entering Japanese satellite; however, this video, if it this of the same object, clearly shows a rocket launch.

Some Chinese experts claimed that the strange sight was actually debris from a US intercontinental ballistic missile.
Chinese officials later said that they knew what the object had been but were unable to make it public because there was a 'military connection.'
An official statement is expected later today.

At around 11 pm on Wednesday, a netizen wrote three entries announcing the airport's closure in his microblog at Sina.com, but they were all soon deleted.
He posted an apology at midnight, saying the news had not been confirmed and asking those who had republished his earlier entries to delete them.

A Chinese airport was dramatically shut down after baffled air traffic controllers spotted an incoming UFO on their radar systems.
Planes were grounded and flights were diverted away from Xiaoshan airport in Hangzhou City, in the country's east, after the mysterious glowing object appeared on monitoring instruments late Wednesday night, the Shanghai Daily reported.

'UFO' disturbs air traffic in East China

The municipal government in China have revealed that an unidentified flying object (UFO) recently disrupted air traffic over Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang Province.
