By nightfall, dim, ruddy Mars climbs within 2 degrees below Saturn atop the planetary lineup in the west. Brilliant Venus glows in the middle until 10 p.m. Mercury twinkles at the bottom of the row near the northwestern horizon and sets early. Leo the Lion descends onto the northwestern horizon. The star Regulus in Leo lingers 2 degrees from Mercury.
