Title: Chang'e 3 lunar mission and upper limit on stochastic background of gravitational wave around the 0.01 Hz band
Author: Wenlin Tang, Peng Xu, Songjie Hu, Jianfeng Cao, Peng Dong, Yanlong Bu, Lue Chen, Songtao Han, Xuefei Gong, Wenxiao Li, Jinsong Ping, Yun-Kau Lau, Geshi Tang

The Doppler tracking data of the Chang'e 3 lunar mission is used to constrain the stochastic background of gravitational wave in cosmology within the 1 mHz to 0.05 Hz frequency band. Our result improves on the upper bound on the energy density of the stochastic background of gravitational wave in the 0.02 Hz to 0.05 Hz band obtained by the Apollo missions, with the improvement reaching almost one order of magnitude at around 0.05 Hz. Detailed noise analysis of the Doppler tracking data is also presented, with the prospect that these noise sources will be mitigated in future Chinese deep space missions. A feasibility study is also undertaken to understand the scientific capability of the Chang'e 4 mission, due to be launched in 2018, in relation to the stochastic gravitational wave background around 0.01 Hz. The study indicates that the upper bound on the energy density may be further improved by another order of magnitude from the Chang'e 3 mission, which will fill the gap in the frequency band from 0.02 Hz to 0.1 Hz in the foreseeable future.

China's first moon rover sets record for longest stay

China's first lunar rover, Yutu, has been operating on the moon for almost two years, setting the record for the longest stay by a rover, according to a Chinese lunar probe scientist.
Yutu was deployed and landed on the moon via China's Chang'e-3 lunar probe in 2013, staying longer than the Soviet Union's 1970 moon rover Lunokhod 1, which spent 11 months on the moon.

Moon rover Yutu functioning but stationary

Yutu, the national pride of the world's third country to soft-land on the moon, was re-awakened, but problems remained.
Ye Peijian, chief scientist of China's Chang'e-3 program, said that the resilient rover had survived longer than its design life of three months.

Moon rover Yutu awake again

China's moon rover Yutu, or Jade Rabbit, has woken up right before the Mid-Autumn Festival, beginning its 10th working cycle after serving for seven months longer than designed.
Four of Yutu's primary scientific instruments, including a panorama camera and a radar, are functioning nominally, while the moon rover itself is also working normally, said Wu Weiren, chief designer for China's lunar program.

Lunar rock collisions behind Yutu damage

Ailing Chinese moon rover Yutu, or "Jade Rabbit," might have been damaged by knocking against rocks on a lunar surface that is more complicated than expected, its designer has said.

China's Jade Rabbit moon rover goes into hibernation again to survive lunar freeze

The Chang'e-3 moon probe and Jade Rabbit lunar rover have gone into a third hibernation to survive a 'cold night' on the moon.
The probe was out early on Sunday and the rover on Saturday afternoon, although an earlier mechanical control problem from a previous shutdown persists.
