There will be an occultation of comet 9P/Tempel 1 by the Moon on Friday July 15th, 2005. The comet is expected to be about magnitude 9.5 at the date of occultation. The crescent Moon will be at phase 0.59), so disappearance will occur behind the dark limb.
The occultation can be seen over New Guinea and Northern Australia.
