Winter offers some of the most dramatic nighttime skyscapes of the whole year.  Sirius, Procyon, Betelgeuse, Rigel, Capella, and Aldebaran are among the brilliant stars in the night sky.  Program participants will learn to find these stars and how to identify the prominent constellations of Auriga, Perseus, Cassiopeia, Orion and Pegasus.  These grand constellations are homes to beautiful deep sky objects such as nebula and star clusters.  A special selection of these will be viewed through the telescope.

New Pond Farm Observatory, 101 Marchant Rd., is hosting an astronomy program open to the public on Saturday, Jan. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Program participants will learn to find Sirius, Procyon, Betelgeuse, Rigel, Capella, and Aldebaran and how to identify the prominent constellations of Auriga, Perseus, Cassiopeia, Orion and Pegasus. A special selection of deep sky objects such as nebula and star clusters will be viewed through the telescope.
