The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting an earthquake in southeast Nebraska  at 8:54 p.m. on Dec. 16.

"At 9 p.m. Central Time on Dec. 16th, a very bright meteor lit up the completely overcast sky like lightning in southeast Nebraska" - Trooper Jerry Chab of the Nebraska State Patrol.

A magnitude 3.5 earthquake occurred at 02:53:42 (UTC) on Wednesday, December 17, 2009, in the Nebraska region, 3 km NNW of Auburn, at a Depth of 15 km

Location 51.925°N, 131.549°W


According the the U.S. Geological Survey, a 3.5
magnitude earthquake hit at 8:53 Wednesday night. It was centred two miles north by northwest of Auburn.
