To honour 50 years of Sir Patrick Moore's programme, 6 commemorative postage stamps were issued on 13 February. They display five nebula, and the Spindle, a galaxy 32 million light years away.
Sir Patrick Moore is to present the 650th episode of BBC One's astronomy programme The Sky at Night, nearly 50 years after the show first aired. Sir Patrick presented the first show, when he was asked to do three programmes on astronomy in 1957.
