Guam's Flag Flies High on Shuttle Discovery

Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo met recently with National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) STS-133 Pilot Eric Boe, Mission Specialist Nicole Scott, and Mission Specialist Stephen Bowen in her office on Capitol Hill.
The astronauts recently completed the 35th mission to the International Space Station, which lasted from February 24, 2011 to March 9, 2011.  During their meeting with the Congresswoman, the astronauts presented her with a Guam flag that was flown on board the Discovery.

One giant leap for Manxkind

Astronaut Nicole Stott took a piece of Tywnald Hill into space.
The intergalactic Manx turf has been orbiting aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery while it was docked to the International Space Station.
The starbound sod was personally provided by President of Tynwald Noel Cringle to Nicole for her to take into space aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery on mission STS-133 to the International Space Station.

Space shuttle Discovery makes graceful landing for 39th and final time

Pilot Eric Boe brought space shuttle Discovery in for a graceful landing at Kennedy Space Centre just before noon today, ending a 13-day mission as well as the orbiter's 27-year career. It was also the first step in the end of the U.S. space shuttle program.

Astronauts aboard the space shuttle Discovery prepared on Tuesday to bring NASA's most-travelled spacecraft back to Earth, wrapping up its 39th and final mission.
Touchdown at the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida is scheduled for 11:57 a.m. EST (1657 GMT) on Wednesday, with a backup landing opportunity available at 1:34 p.m. (1834 GMT)

William Shatner, who played Captain James T. Kirk on the original Star Trek television series, provided a special message to the crew of space shuttle Discovery during the 3:23 a.m. EST wakeup call.

"Space, the final frontier. These have been the voyages of the Space Shuttle Discovery. Her 30 year mission: To seek out new science. To build new outposts. To bring nations together on the final frontier. To boldly go, and do, what no spacecraft has done before" - William Shatner.

The space shuttle and space station crews will soon say goodbye.
Astronauts will close the hatches between their spacecraft Sunday afternoon. Then on Monday morning, shuttle Discovery will undock for the final time from the International Space Station.
