A Proton rocket carrying three satellites for Russia's navigation system GLONASS, which will enable the system to cover all of Russia, has been launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

"The launch was made at 13:38 Moscow time, with the spacecraft set to detach from the booster rocket at 17:10 Moscow time" - Roscosmos spokesman.

The rocket's three core stages are expected to place the Block DM upper stage and three GLONASS satellites in a temporary parking orbit less than 10 minutes after liftoff.

A Proton rocket is scheduled to launch three Global Orbiting Navigation Satellite System (Glonass) satellites (M21,M22,M23) from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan, at 10:38 GMT, 14th, December, 2009.

Russia's space chief said Friday the launch of three satellites aimed at bolstering its planned GPS-type navigation system was delayed because of a malfunction in an earlier launched satellite, news agencies reported.
The comments by Federal Space Agency head Anatoly Perminov signalled yet more problems for the Global Navigation Satellite System, which has faced repeated technical issues and delays.

A Proton-M  rocket is scheduled to  launch three  Glonass-M satellites for the Glonass satellite navigation constellation, from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan, on the 25th September, 2009.
The launch may be delayed due to a problem with one Glonass-M satellite.

New GLONASS-M Satellites Head to Pad for September 25 Launch
The Russian Reshetnev Company has sent the first of three GLONASS-Ms satellites scheduled for a blast next month to the Baikonur spacedrome and launch pad in Uzbekhistan. Two more satellites will follow in late August and early September, and all will rise on September 25, according to plan.
