After achieving touchdown on a comet for the first time in history, scientists and engineers are busy analysing this new world and the nature of the landing. Touchdown was confirmed at ESAs Space Operations Centre in Darmstadt, Germany at 16:03 GMT/17:03 CET on 12 November. Read more
The robot probe Philae that made a historic comet landing is now stable after initially failing to attach to the surface, the BBC has learnt. Read more
Scientists are facing a tense wait to learn the fate of a robot probe that made a historic landing on a comet - but did not stay in place as planned. Data from the Philae craft indicates it landed at least three times on the comet, after harpoons failed to attach it to the surface on the first attempt. Read more
European robot probe Philae has made the first, historic landing on a comet, after descending from its mothership. The landing on Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko was confirmed at about 1605 GMT. Read more
The Philae lander has separated from the Rosetta orbiter, and is now on its way to becoming the first spacecraft to touch down on a comet. Separation was confirmed at ESA's Space Operation Centre, ESOC, in Darmstadt, Germany at 09:03 GMT / 10:03 CET. It takes the radio signals from the transmitter on Rosetta 28 minutes and 20 seconds to reach Earth, so separation actually occurred in space at 08:35 GMT / 09:35 CET. Read more
The landing site on a comet to be targeted by Europe's Philae robot on 12 November has been named "Agilkia" following a public competition. It continues the Egyptian theme for the mission - being an island in the Nile. Read more
The decision to try to land a robot on Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko on Wednesday 12 November is confirmed. A detailed follow-up analysis, informed by new high-resolution pictures, has found no reason to rescind the choice. The Rosetta probe will eject the Philae robot shortly after 08:30 GMT on the 12th.
